In order to serve you better, I signed up with Yahoo's email alerts server so they would send up a flare whenever there is news containing anything about Keanu Reeves. I don't know what kind of crackmonkeys are in charge over there but I have gotten 14 copies of this story since 4pm yesterday. It's not even anything new, really. Just that Keanu is no longer attached to Billy Jack.
I can understand 2 or 3 but 14? I thought about unsubscribing, but I guess I'll just keep on deleting them. I hope that it won't be like this once Reloaded draws nearer.
It's better than no news, I suppose.
I checked eBay for the first time in a few days. Jonathan Harker's Vest is on the block. The price is pretty low considering it's wardrobe, but I really don't have any intrest in it. Dracula wasn't one of my favorites.
Which reminds me, Roi asked me the other day why I never got into Gary Oldman. I really couldn't give and answer. Just like I really couldn't say why precisely I am into Keanu. Or Kiefer for that matter. It's more than talent or looks or even the "it" factor. I guess it's the correct sum of all parts, factored with heart, soul and that which is undefinable.
Or maybe I just have a fetish for Canadians.
Krix, I'll tell ya,Dracula wasn't my fave either, but it would be nifty to have something that went on that bod! Maybe someday, there will be something I just have to have. You know what would be ever soooo drop dead awesome? The leather jacket from My Own Private Idaho... I'd probably never take it off! Rhonda
Posted by: Rhonda on May 10, 2002 12:00 PM:) You're like me. If I got a hold of a wardrobe piece, I would be wearing it, not mounting it behind glass or putting it on some mannequin for display. I'm still regretting not snatching the shirt from the courtroom scene from The Gift that was up for $450 last year. Donnie Barksdale was one of my favorite roles.
Posted by: krix on May 10, 2002 12:23 PMOoops, sorry! Just got all worked up about the whole Gary Oldman question (maybe I need to meet Roi?!). When I saw Dracula in the theater (this was before I was totally smitten with keanu), I was completely bowled over by Gary Oldman as the young Count. Wasn't he the sexiest beast?! Way cooler than Harker, right? Yep, I had a brief Gary Oldman phase; he just didn't have the gorgeous looks to keep me enthralled... And no boots...
You should definitely meet Roi.
and watch out for those yahoo people -- they tend to ignore the 'don't send me spam' preferences. and tell you that you asked for it.
Posted by: kd on May 10, 2002 09:07 PMMaybe you just like Good Guys, Krix?
I like Oldman a lot -- primarily because he really seems to have made a art out of portraying Bad Guys as unique, memorable creatures. Not that he evokes much sympathy for them -- but they stick in your head afterwards for a long, long time. Did you ever see _Leon_ aka _The Professional_? He's freakin' *scary*.
Posted by: Craig on May 11, 2002 07:07 AMAbout Yahoo!: you get 14 e-mails of the same story, while I can't get even one. I subscribe, get the articles for a month and then I have subscribe again... I prefer to check on dailynews.yahoo.com every other day...
About Dracula... Hm, I am into Gary Oldman. Not as much as Keanu, but the guy's amazing!!!!! Pity his ego took place and ruined his career...
Peace
Posted by: Charlize on May 11, 2002 05:43 PMOh, I totally agree, Craig, that Gary Oldman brings an amazing complexity to his dark characters. He's incredibly talented that way. I DID really feel sympathy (and empathy) for Dracula, and there's Sid Vicious and Arthur Dimmesdale, etc. I haven't seen The Professional, so that's something to do tonight, maybe. Yeah, I love Gary Oldman's work, just not so sure I'd like him if I met him...
Posted by: Lori on May 12, 2002 09:39 AMBTW, I'm bidding on that vest, dammit! Wish me luck...
Posted by: Lori on May 12, 2002 08:02 PMOoooooh, you are?
Cool, I can live vicariously through you then.
:)
Yeah, the vest. Right now I think I'm top bidder, and there's less than a day left. I can TOTALLY see myself wearing the vest to the Dogstar show in LA in the fall...
Oh, and I watched The Professional today - dude, I felt no sympathy for Oldman's character in that one. Definitely scary! Excellent performances by all three principal actors.
