*cough*

I'm sure that this really doesn't need to be pointed out, but...

HYPERBOLE - hy·per·bo·le
Pronunciation: hI-'p&r-b&-(")lE
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin, from Greek hyperbolE excess, hyperbole, hyperbola, from hyperballein to exceed, from hyper- + ballein to throw
Date: 15th century
: extravagant exaggeration (as "mile-high ice-cream cones")
- hy·per·bo·list /-list/ noun

Bunsen is a great and entertaining writer. Read the rest of his stuff. I think you will see his style.

He left the link to his entry about Keanu and the Viper Room days ago in my comments on this entry. I read it, it was cute. But I'm not in the habit of linking other bloggers getting snarky on the object of my affection (from a mere comment at least), so I didn't think anything more of it.

I never thought some of the other sites would pick up on it as truth.
Well done, Bunsen. Way to work a fandom into a tizzy.

Heh.

Krix,

You are The One...Keanu fan that has a sense of humor.

And who said it all wasn't true?

Posted by: bunsen on June 17, 2003 12:34 PM

All I know is next time I'm in LA, I'm buying you a Rolling Rock.

Posted by: krix on June 17, 2003 12:42 PM

I thought it was hysterical. Rock, rock, rock!

Posted by: JeniLyn on June 17, 2003 12:50 PM

I will buy you one, then another, then another (that is three isn't it?)

Obviously a fantasy of this guy - to hang with Ke and possibly soak up a little coolness...
If any minute point in the article is true (he kind of discredited his whole experience by saying that he snuck in through the kitchen; then reported that there is no kitchen.. matrixy huh? but I digress...) I did enjoy the example of Mr. Reeves humor. rock rock rock. smirk.

I do wonder if he ever heard becky - everyone else, including un-enamored males, have said his playing has become amazing, and this guy says the band sucked. I think it was just an opportunity to rag on Mr. Reeves yet again, and he took it. Too many people have done that and I guess the diehards are sick of it, hyperbole notwithstanding.

That's pretty much why I didn't link the piece in the first place. I only brought it up today to point out that celeb mockery is his gig and the story should be taken with a bodacious grain of salt.

Posted by: krix on June 17, 2003 03:48 PM

Well, I thought it was funny, too! The ending made mr. Bunsen look like a total schmuck! :-D
So if it's true or not is besides the point, in my opinion. People should be able to make fun of other people, as long as they can take it right back, too. This looked like a slag, but in the end, Bunsen was the loser. This means it was written by someone who has the ability to laugh about himself! :-D
That's good! And strangely adorable, in a "big mouth, little wussy heart" kind of way.
So, to thank him for the eventual laugh, and because it's not ass-friday yet, for me, today is "kiss the schmuck-tuesday"!

*smooch*

*spank*

And that was in case he DID mean it as a slag :-)

Posted by: Julie on June 17, 2003 03:54 PM

hey, i laughed my ass off at this one ["it only has four strings. how hard can it be?"]and the more recent one, too ["A-fucking-ha!"]. bunsen can come visit me anytime, Rolling Rock's on the house...

Posted by: lori on June 17, 2003 04:45 PM

wtf, I read this last night, kept thinking huh, I didn't see a kitchen or food offerred, but quite amusing, wow k, you're an urban legen starter now...

Posted by: tess on June 17, 2003 05:39 PM

NO, I am not.
That's what I was trying to put the kibosh on.

Posted by: krix on June 17, 2003 05:50 PM

I am forced to admit that I did find Mr. Bunson's commentary somewhat entertaining, very similar in fact to the giddy pleasure I get while watching someone else's 2 year old throw a tantrum during dinner, while my beautiful child (for once) sits quietly enjoying her meal.

But, did Mr. Bunson really find that photo of KCR "unflattering". We should all look so good in our mugshots. Mine was terrible. Wait, did I say "mine was terrible"?? Well I dont actually have a mugshot..really... I dont...but if I did, I'm sure it could in no way be as flattering as KCR"S is. Granted I like Mr. Gorman photos better, but I wouldn't delete the LAPDs if it were the thud of the day.

Keep it real.

Personally, I thought it was hysterical. There's always been something of a dearth in Keanu fandom when it comes to having a sense of humor. A good dose of snark can clear out the gray matter, I always say...

Posted by: Sparrowhawk on June 17, 2003 08:45 PM

Ok - ya got me...:p

My excuse is I haven't been well lately...

I don't find the guy particularly funny. Anyway, reading from the context is very helpful, and you get the spirit in which he wrote about Keanu. But I don't think he's a good writer: I mean, he's a bit monotonous. This continous ridiculing famous people is a monochromatic satire. And he's sense of humour is a little too corny and cheap. Anyway, that's only a matter of taste. But I admit too many people take things a little bit too seriously... BTW, I like keanuvision.
