I also looked up one afficianado's definition of "good bass sounds" and found this:
"...the bass should have a nice balance between a rich bottom end and an articulate top end, great intonation, nice sustain, and no rattles or buzzes."

I actually could conceptualize it as the basis for a piece of performance art that begins as a rock song, and then one by one anyone NOT playing bass onstage is unplugged and shoved off of the stage. All the while the words building in intensity until they are being screamed at the top of my lungs and then the bass player and I indulge in all sorts of perversions right on the stage in front of god and everyone.
For art's sake.
