One more Constantine bit, then I'm off to bed

Doing the score/soundtrack for Constantine are Patrick Cassidy and Lisa Gerrard.

From Lisa Gerrard's website:

Lisa has been working on this VERY dark soundtrack for a few weeks now. If the first track is anything to go by this going to be one of the darkest works Lisa ever did. The film is directed by Francis Lawrence and John Constantine is played by Keanu Reeves.

click for larger imageJohn Constantine the antihero and magician is a very interesting character his story really starts after the death of King Arthur, when Merlin sought the man known as Kon-sten-tyn and helped him become the new King of Britain, but Kon-sten-tyn was very determined not to rule under Merlins commands and so the trouble started. There is a family tree and a lot of good information on John Constantine and Hellblazer at the Straight To Hell website. Not to sure how much John Constantine will or has been changed for the film, but let's hope that the core of Constantine will remain intact.
No matter what this film puts Lisa in front of a vast darkness and (heavenly) light filled canvas and Francis Lawrence's prior work shows a strong sinister, dark and mysteries dimension. Keanu Reeves is well suited for the part, let's just hope that he reads Hellblazer and portrays John Constantine as the heavily smoking antihero he is. But probably the most important point with a character like John Constantine is to hope that nobody is actually expecting a PG-13 rating.

Just started checking out some of the Constantine Hellblazer stories. You've piqued my curiosity to the point that I'll have to more thoroughly scope out this Straight to Hell website for further insight, so I can truly appreciate Constantine's nature and Kanu's portrayal of him....

Kanu, huh Phoenix? Is this some 'pet name' we're not aware of? :O) (I know it's a typo, I'm just teasing you!). I agree with you, all this talk about Constantine has me wanting to know more about the character and dang it all to heck, if I wasn't going to *try* and go see the movie without knowing a thing (sometimes I get too bogged down with the details that they've left out, if I've read the book beforehand and have a preconceived notion of what the story will (should) be about). (Pardon the run-on sentence, I'm tired). :O) I think it was the description of Constantine as a chain-smoking anti-hero with noble intentions that has my curiousity piqued. :O)

Hi, Natasha! Actually, "Kanu" isn't a typo. Guess you could say it's a recently adopted 'pet name'.... *smiles*

Oh, wow phoenix, I corrected your pet name twice last night as a typo!
So, what's his pet name for you?

Ooooh, now I'm intriqued Phoenix! Kanu, Kee, Keenu, Keanu...it's ALL good! :O)

Keanu as Constantine? Joaquin Phoenix would've been better suited for sure. Even Kiefer Sutherland....Keanu....He'll have to shake that one trick Bill and Ted routine that he seems to play down ( but not nearly enough)....Well, I hope he's been reading up...
