You are my god, you are my dog
You kept me close, love never lost
I called you hippie, you said fuck off
said your brother's a real punk rocker
Something gonna happen
Something very soon
transcending flesh could be a breeze
Sending me oh over the moon
Friends near death, you gave respect
sympathetic intellect
Choices are, for one and all
All we are is, leaves that fall
Round and round inside your head
Smartest fucker I ever met
Vicious fish bit at your toes
Made you lie and numb your soul
Mule donkey ass you bore the load
Of all creations tortured souls
Choices are for one and all
All we are is, leaves that fall
Water flowing and I will drink it
I will drink for you
A part of me left that only you knew
Will never be understood
Will never be understood
Hey, gone to stay
Entire lifetime flash before me
In a loving stream
Hey mother may I have lost a child
But she gave birth
to a loving stream
Ooh, never know
When the gods will come and
Take you
To a loving stream
Ooh, heart of gold
The most special things you gave me were
From a loving stream
In a loving stream
Fuck the magazines
Fuck the green machine
See the human being
In a loving stream
Fuck the legal greed
Fuck the nothing scene
See the family
In a loving stream

it wahs | from inside the mind of krix at October 31, 2003 06:11 AM .Pardon my ignorance but I was like wow, Keanu sure looks like River Phoenix in this picture. Doh!
I had never heard or seen those RHCP lyrics before. I remember when he died and how I cried. My goodness, this song is beautiful and a fitting tribute to an extraordinarily talented shining young man taken away from us way too soon. He left a void that will remain ever unfilled.
Posted by: Sunny on October 31, 2003 06:43 AMMay he rest in peace.
Posted by: kat on October 31, 2003 07:08 AMI love that song, but it makes me cry almost everytime I hear it. Beautiful lyrics.
I miss River so much, he was an amazingly talented actor and a wonderful man.
Posted by: Ashley on October 31, 2003 07:19 AMjust happened to catch part of "I Love You to Death" yesterday...so hilariously deep. River was such a good soul. RIP.

Posted by: Keanuette on October 31, 2003 12:05 PMPoor River...may the angels surround him in heaven...so sad that a talented man had this happen to him :(
Posted by: Keanu_Soul on October 31, 2003 12:20 PM... I saw this earlier, but I didn't comment because I wanted to write something special for him. But I can never think of kind and graceful words for River like the ones written above.
I just get angry when I think about it.
I was already a fan back then, so it caught my interest more then usual. I was not heartbroken, but upset nevertheless. So young.
But, a few weeks after he died, my sister came across a magazine that had pictures of him in his coffin. He looked horrible. But what truly made it one of the most upsetting things I've ever seen in print, is that they actually sneaked into the funeral to take pictures like that. The word 'vultures' does not even begin to cover it. This is what I always think about now, and what makes me mad.
Later I saw an interview with a National Enquirer journalist, who said they had printed it as a 'warning' to young people. I'm still angry at that.
So, thank you, RHCP, for writing words that I can't. He deserves them :-)
he made us all better people, if only for the moments we saw him in his art. i miss him.

Posted by: :: jozjozjoz :: on November 1, 2003 02:08 AMI miss you, River... :~(
Posted by: Lika on November 2, 2003 09:30 AMI wasn't old enough to know of River while he was still alive, but now that i'm 16 and i've seen a few of his films, he truly touches me. It's so sad how he died, and even more sad that someone would be cruel enough to sneak into the funeral home, and take his picture. I have yet to see that picture, and i dont think i want to. River should be remembered for his talent, and his motivational, peaceful words, not for his fatal mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes, and it's not fair to hold his mistakes to his name. When someone passes on, you remember them for who they were and what positive things they did, not how they screwed up.
