Of course, I picked up a copy of the Revolutions Soundtrack for myself yesterday. It looks like Don Davis is going to be our generation's John Williams.
Listening to a film score while doing your everyday things puts a whole new emotional perspective in them. It makes every red light on the way to work a chance to pause in poignant thought.
"Trinity Definitely" was playing as I reached the bottom of an exit ramp to find a swirling display of loose newspaper pages dancing in the wind above the intersection. Had I been listening to something more contemporary I may not have even noticed, or I would have just seen it as trash and a traffic hazard, but instead it was actually a beautiful moment for me.
The folks behind me? Not so much.
A few honks got me rolling again, still lost in the music.
Then, just as my eyes were starting to well up, the track changed to "Neodämmerung".
Now, I'm not sure that which of Jack's Ultimate Salads I chose for lunch was crucial to human existence or not, but I felt I had to choose carefully. Of course part of me already knew what I was going to choose. The Chicken Club. I'd seen this all play out before.
What a truly remarkable way of expressing the effect this music has, krix. I love it.
I've been listening to a few that I could download, and during Neodammerung, I just stood and stared, thinking, "Don Davis is a GOD." The music makes me even look at vacuuming in a different light (how odd is that?). I don't think I've bought an instrumental soundtrack since Star Wars, but I HAVE to have this one.

When I'm driving and I listen to the soundtrack, I feel like Niobe at the helm of the Hammer and I can fly through anything - Damn! I can drive! LOL
Neodammerung gets me going as it's Neo and Smith duking it out.
Posted by: Keanuette on November 10, 2003 03:28 PM"Neodämmerung" really is one of the greatest pieces of music I've ever listened to... when I watched Neo disappearing in that ray of light, that music in the backround... it was just as if my heart was bursting... to much feelings for one little Petra-heart to hold :o)
Anyway: Did anyone recognize that strange sign at the beginning of "Reloaded", then the Matrix code disappeared? Looked like a runic letter or something....
And, a little late - but: Happy Birthday from Germany, Keanuvision!! Stay "krixatious"!!!
I noticed it, but haven't heard anything more. I'm sure it's significant.
Tyler? Nudel? Anyone on the Matrix boards talking about this?
Now I really can't wait to get my Revolutions soundtrack CD. krix you have such a way with words. *sigh* I'm going to read this post again.

Posted by: Mikey2 on November 10, 2003 07:13 PMya know..thinking about the things you say..i downloaded the sountrack for all 3 movies..and the animatrix..i have them all on one playlist and let the player decide which to prompt next..and it is amazing how..ordinary things become surreal when youve got these tunes playing in the background..
i was on the phone with a friend..in middle of the convo..i hear a tiny far off distant voice calling my name " Dawni ? you there ? hello ? Dawni ? " ..( which was my friend on the other end of the line ) when suddenly im pulled back into the convo..and realize i had subconciously drifted off to the sounds of the music..lost in my recollections of the movie...WILD STUFF !! hehe

Short answer is one possibility, the alchemical symbol for mercury, which is meant to symbolize unconditional love. I think that says it all, really...

Posted by: bakednudel on November 11, 2003 01:32 AMSorry about the double post. And the soundtrack: I can't wait to hear the whole thing. The music is unbelievably good, I'll be totally pissed if Don Davis doesn't get a nomination. But will I be surprised? hell, no. I worry now that Revolutions will even get the minimum technical noms, thanks to the critical hatchet-job. Grrrrr... What idiots they are...
Posted by: bakednudel on November 11, 2003 01:34 AMThanks to bakednudel... of course it was Revolutions, not Reloaded - still standing a little "beside myself" after watching M3 :o)
Posted by: Petra_II on November 11, 2003 09:03 AMNeodammerung (Twilight of Neo) is the best new score Ive EVER heard and thats all I listen too...New Scores. The last Score Ive heard that was as good was Danny Elfman - Ice Dance. (get the 5 and a half min version.
