But damn! You just can't read "Jack and Diane" without that song going off in your head, huh?
Understandably, most of the media about Something's Gotta Give is focusing on the stars:
The 5-foot-9-inch superstar is still at the top of his game; just ask writer and director Nancy Meyers. She says, "Why Jack is so sexy? Because he is just the devil. Something is always going on in that brain. He is just delicious."In "Something's Gotta Give," Nicholson is reunited with his 1981 "Reds" costar, Diane Keaton. And after all of these years, Nicholson hints that is was some reunion. He says, "I would have to write a book, honey." - extra tv
___________ Ask Keaton if she's canoodling with famous ladies' man Jack and she almost chokes when she says, "Me dating Jack? It's not going to happen. Probably not for either one of us. We are just friends." - sun-times
All in all the buzz for the film seems to be good. Even though I'm not big on romantic comedies, I'm looking forward to seeing the preview tonight. I know I'll adore Keanu as Dr. Julian Mercer. *swoon*
I'm also currently freaking out that I'm taller than Jack Nicholson.
media spot | from inside the mind of krix at December 06, 2003 10:55 AM .Yes I'm quite excited too! because contrary to earlier reports, there IS a sneak preview in my area, so I'm going with two fellow Keanu-fans...
After seeing Revolutions Imax last night, I'm so ready for some comedy, and I'm sure Keanu is terrific in this!
Have determined after much serious study ;) that Neo is at his most inhumanly beautiful when he delivers his "you were right, you were always right" speech.. *thud* He is also Very Wet. Did the Wachowskis know this? The wetness, I mean. After all, it also affects all those Pervy Agent Smith Fanciers out there...
Posted by: bakednudel on December 6, 2003 11:27 AMLucky lucky you!
Why don't you take a video camera with you and capture the whole movie. We won't see it here for EVER..:(
Posted by: Keanuette on December 6, 2003 11:42 AM:\
Posted by: krix on December 6, 2003 12:10 PMI would second Keanuette's idea, if I didn't think it would get you into serious trouble...
Oh, oh, you lucky American girls. I'm going to have grey hair before this movie hits Dutch theatres.
Krix, why are you freaking out because Jack Nicholson is 5-foot-9-inches? He doesn't seem like he would mind dating taller women anyway. Big appetite, that man... Likes girls & women, big and small, diminutive and tall, I'd say. I think he must be excellent company on a dinner date...
But personally, I'd rather smooch the nice 6-foot-1-inch doctor Mercer with the sweet brown eyes. He's the right medicine for any affliction. (He just needs to develop a taste for tall redheads, in stead of older women, eh?)
Oh, and Julie!, in case you're reading this: thanx for your lovely email, babe. The return one is already on its way to you!
Posted by: Maddi on December 6, 2003 04:22 PMWell, at least I don't have the same problem as krix. I never have to worry about being taller than a guy. At a statuesque 5'1" the really cute guys that I am taller than are still in diapers and sucking their thumbs.
Speaking of thumbsuckers (nice segue doncha think?), unlike krix, I can daydream of dancing cheek to pecs with Keanu. Not every girl can say that!
Posted by: Melissa on December 6, 2003 04:48 PMAm I the only one who thinks Jack is not the slightest bit sexy? Smarmy, now there's a word that fits. *uck* And at 5'9" I could look him right in the eye and tell him so. ;P
Posted by: Zen on December 6, 2003 04:58 PMI'm with you, Zen! Jack was hella cute when he was young. But what used to be a sly smile has turned into a kinda creepy leer...gives me the willies! {8-O
Posted by: JeezLouise on December 6, 2003 07:16 PMWell..I just got back from a sneak preview of SGG at my "local AMC" and it was just great! Keanu was absolutely perfect for the part and the whole movie was just...awww! Keaton and Nicholson were excellent in their parts :) and nobody else would have been better to play the supporting role of Dr. Mercer :D At some points the camera work was a bit off, but overall the whole movie was just together.
I would def recommend this movie to everyone...
If it makes you feel better, J & D were electrocuted after a three state killing spree that was largely his fault.
She was not wearing those Bobby Brooks slacks.
Wait. That was that crazy Starkweather kid and his girlfriend.
Nevermind.
Ms. Keaton has too much class to carry on with Jack. He is reputed (widely) to have some truely unsavory sexual habits. Unless one savors that sort of thing.
Besides, old people knocking boots is about as boring as the Paris Hilton video.
Posted by: V. on December 6, 2003 08:02 PMOMG! yes I am still alive. Just got home, but of course the film ended much sooner, we all had to have post- *cough*keanu*cough* drinkies... what a fun film! My married friend said she kept looking over at me to see if I was still breathing after all Keanu's terrific lines to the "older woman"; my friend on the other side said she simply had to close her eyes at some points because Keanu was unbearably hot... Well my eyes never closed and I didn't exactly faint, but ya know what? krix I salute you, because if I ever saw the man in RL, I think I would be absolutely speechless...and might very possibly faint.
Silly I know...
Great film, Keaton and Nicholson were terrific. Zenny, I've felt like you for a long time about Jack Nicholson, but he was quite charming and perfect in this role. I found him to be attractive (speaking as an older woman). However, Keanu...words just fail me.
*megathud*
Posted by: bakednudel on December 6, 2003 08:22 PMoh and I meant to say: hottest moment? for me, when he leaps across the couch and chases after Erica... *swoon*
Posted by: bakednudel on December 6, 2003 08:23 PMI was bummed....my friend and I were going to see the sneak preview tonight, but when we tried to buy tickets about 50 minutes before showtime, the show was already sold out! We went to Coldstone Creamery instead, and I tried to drown my sorrow by eating a hot fudge mundae. It didn't work. I'll be sad until Friday afternoon. I knew I should have bought the tickets yesterday. I saw two other posts on Club Keanu that the sneak previews had sold out. I had expected everyone would be seeing The Last Samurai. Well, I'll be buying Friday's tickets ahead of time, that's for sure!

Posted by: geebie on December 6, 2003 11:17 PMThe freaking is becuase he's always been such a "larger than life" idol of mine, not so much attraction. When I wanted to act he was at the #1 spot of people I wanted to work with one day. Now he's like short or something. I think if I met him it would be weird for me.
I'm so glad Keanu is 6'1".
Posted by: krix on December 6, 2003 11:30 PMLeaping across the couch? Oh, I can't wait to see this movie! For some reason, even though I'm younger than he is, the thought of Keanu with an older woman just makes me feel good.
Posted by: Zen on December 7, 2003 07:13 AMI was joking...
I wasn't really expecting you to take a video camera in there with you. That would be illegal...
I'm just gagging to see the movie.
Posted by: Keanuette on December 7, 2003 10:51 AMyes, krix, tall certainly matters. i too am amazed to learn that Jack and i are the same height. he's been the man for me for oh so long (there was never a Jack movie i didn't see immediately), so to think about seeing him in a movie with keanu is amazing. gotta wait til next weekend, though, because SC truly sucks...
Posted by: lori on December 7, 2003 05:46 PMLOL @ Melissa! :-D That gives a whole new meaning to the definition of 'petite' ;-D
I know excactly how you feel on the 'tall-factor' :-)
In fact, being used to another metric system, one of my worst fears was always that he'd turn out to be a midget in real life :-)
Ah, imagine unexpectedly running into your idol, and then completely overlooking him because the top of his head reaches your belly-button, LOL!
-I hear this frequently happens to Tom Cruise fans, btw ;-p
Fortunately a snow-princess was able to clarify for me what all those stones, feet, arms or *whatever* you use mean! :-)
I'm about the same height as you & Zen, but in my heels I almost reach his *level* :-)
And yes! Jack's certainly a great actor, and I don't mean to dis-respect him but as far as looks go... Well.
Posted by: Julie! on December 8, 2003 10:34 AMThanks, Julie! I kinda feel sorry for you tall ladies out there. I NEVER wear heels just because of the fact that, if your guy is that much taller than you, you have a reason to snuggle. Let's face it, you gotta do something. Staring at his shirt just ain't fun. If you can't look into his eyes, the next best thing is your head on his shoulder...
