This morning? I don't ever want to do it again.
But I'm sure that will change by Sunday night's practice.
We thought we would be going on first, at 10pm, but the pecking order at The Cooler on weeknights is that the first 2 timeslots are the desirable ones (because people have to leave earlier). So we went on much later than we thought we would and most of the people that showed up to see us ended up having to leave. That sucked. (Brittany must have invited 25+ people, at 10:00 the place was jammed with her friends and co-workers) We finally went on around midnight, most of our friends had left and there were some more delays and problems setting up and when we finally started playing we probably weren't at our best.
I'm actually not sure how we sounded because all I could hear was bass. I wasn't perfect but didn't mess up royally any time and I was more annoyed at the way the whole night played out than nervous. I'm hoping next time will be less stressful and more fun.
To quote a member of one of the other bands, it was "good for a first gig." The folks that did stick it out and stay to hear us seemed to like it (though they could have just been drunk).
off topic | from inside the mind of krix at June 11, 2004 10:42 AM .hi Krix! i had fun just getting there!!!!! thanks for your cd as well... haven't had a chance to listen yet but will soon...))
Posted by: wanda on June 11, 2004 11:09 AMWow, you're 1st gig is history already!
Sorry things didn't go as smoothly as you all would've liked. But I didn't here you mention that Roi broke any strings, so that's a positive thing to build on for next time! :)
Now when you play there again, you'll know the drill and be ready for it! :)
You know, there may have not been that many people left when you performed *there* due to the fact that they had to leave because of the sucky 'planning', but meanwhile...
TONS of people from all over the world were there in thoughts! :-)
So, you actually played for a HUGE crowd last night! :-) You filled up a football-stadium! :-D
Really, you already have *much* more groupies then those who came first in the 'pecking order'. So there!
*smooch* :-)
Roi did break a string. Luckily it was on the last song.
Posted by: krix on June 11, 2004 12:15 PMGuess I spoke too soon! That darn Roi, ya gotta love him! But yeah, good thing it was towards the end.
I second Julie!'s opinion. You did play for a HUGE crowd last night. Us cybergroupies were all there! :-)
Posted by: Lisa on June 11, 2004 12:49 PMi can't believe you're already playing live..that's awesome.
Posted by: laura on June 11, 2004 01:44 PMYour first gig! You survived! And it was good for a first gig. That's pretty positive. If it was me, I would probably prefer a small crowd for the first time, just to get used to performing on stage. But the waiting would be nerve racking and irritating as hell. However, if someone would have TOLD you that you were going on last, then it would have been much better. OMF, you guys had your first gig! woo hoo!
Posted by: sta-cie on June 11, 2004 07:04 PMSpeaking as part of the HUGE cybergroupie audience...I think it was a GREAT first gig! Way to go Vibemerchants...you are off and running!
Posted by: shelz on June 11, 2004 10:14 PMIt seems like you had exactly the same "experience" on stage every other band or artist had I‘ve ever heard from (including the later succesful ones!)
Don‘t be to depressed, it'll be better with every gig. And that someone said "you weren't bad for the first time" - that sounds not bad to me!
Keep it up girl!
Posted by: creezy on June 12, 2004 03:23 AMOh, Krix, that show was great! Unfortunately, on my seat (on football stadion) I can´t heard or saw anything but mood was marvellous (mexican waves, etc., ... and all that jazz)!
In one thing you ´re not right, next time it will be same stressful but it´s absolutely OK. It doesn´t mean that it is bad. „You are the best...“. Step out to stage is easy, hard is to make decision to go out and you did it already.
Have a lot fun on Sunday night's practice.
Just, thanx! *dreamy smile*
(and, of cource to mikey2 too)
Oh Wow! Bit of a bummer...
But, these things happen and I would have been just as mad as you that than nervous.
Did you get it on tape?
Posted by: Keanuette on June 13, 2004 04:06 AMYeah, but mostly for our own review. There's no light, the camera is off center and halfway through, the autofocus cocks up and it goes blurry. Once we play someplace with nice lights we'll try and make some video available on the site.
