I hope everyone had a wonderful new year.
I'm sorry for the lack of updates, November was a really busy month for me.
I guess Sinbad was scrapped. I can't say I'm heartbroken.
Hope you're all doing lovely.
Thanks for the emails, I'm fine. Just busy.
I'd also like to wish the Pic-of-the Day club a Happy 10-year Anniversary! The club has been a part of my Keanu fandom since I came online and the pictures have inspired me more than you can imagine. I'm thankful for everything Romeo and Margarete has put into it over the years. *Hand to Heart* Cheers!
ARYA sent on some great pictures from Keanuweb of Keanu on Tuesday night. She had a Zen-themed wallpaper request and I thank her for the inspiration....
I want to thank Vika, who has been photographing some beautiful flowers this past month and sending them to me for "flowertherapy". One of the photos was so beautiful, I had to use it as a background for this month's calendar. Also, Wee Neo is on his way to her to see the blooms himself!
And thanks to CK for the great photo by Tom Munro from their gallery.
The April Fool's joke this year is that there's no joke. With everything going on, I could only think of one thing to rival last year's prank, but V.'s leather pants are at the cleaners.
Now that I've buttered you all up with this beautiful boy, it's time for me to tell you that I'm leaving for a much needed break.
I'll be back in a couple weeks, all comments are closed until I return so I don't have to worry about moderating.
Rock on.
I've also uploaded this to the Constantine Fan Art project at OriginalSins.net.
I had a pretty productive weekend.
Not only did I manage to get all of my shopping done (Chia Pets™ and AA battery stocking stuffers for everyone!), but I also got stupendously drunk as well.
How was your weekend? Are you done shopping?
I'm totally craving an avocado sandwich now.
...these are all scans from a pack of postcards I got recently. Just a little filtering and sized for your desktop.
This one's for creezy....
Today, the distraction of his kissable lips is much needed.
The Hafiz poem came with this week's Brezsny newsletter, photo from the Stunt Awards website.
Big Love to Another Angel for the great photo from the Green Valley show.
Go check out her site at Keanufan.com
Thank you to Rhonda for the quote and inspiration...

Ok, every single one of the great new photos that Sweet Keanu has posted is begging to be made into wallpaper....
But I'm only doing one (for now).
Also, a couple more wonderful pics at this blog, KR-Online.
(I feel like an ass because I can't speak the language, is that Portuguese? Where's Bea when I need her!? I seem to remember her learning Portuguese before she went to Rio....)
Seeing how there was such a reaction to this Armando Gallo pic, I thought I'd do a wallpaper.
The quote is from Uta Hagen, actress, teacher and author of several books on the craft including Respect For Acting and who was a major influence on Keanu and his ambition to act. Sadly, the world of theater lost this great gift to audiences and students this month.
DVDanswers reports that Something's Gotta Give (R1) is due to hit the shelves on March 30. (via keanuweb)
No word on extras, though I imagine there'll be a few. Did "What Women Want" have directors commentary? If so, then I expect SGG will too, along with a "featurette" or something.
I'll be searching for the easter egg that contains Dr. Julian's pager number.
You can pre-order it at amazon.
Gah! It's almost 2004!
Just a reminder, the calandars from 2003 are linked on the calendar page, but will be taken off the server at the end of January.
Ho.
Ho!
The mistletoe!
I'm making rum balls this weekend.
I figured I'd better be early with this....
...and I really should be since I have a ton of stuff to do before I go away next week.
But this is so much more fun.
While I have been known to make a Mac-friendly Keanu wallpaper on request from time to time, I usually do my wallpapers for a PC layout - icons on the left. But this picture from the recent Entertainment Weekly cover feature on Keanu was just perfect for the alternate orientation.
I did this yesterday to pass the time and keep me from giving in the temptation to surf. I made adjustments while I waited for Letterman to come on. I'm uploading it now to keep myself from futzing with it any longer.
"We would do it.
It wouldn't be good enough.
They would talk.
Then, they would come over and say,"
"Well, could we like this?" "And then we'd try
again. It's the way it should be.
We try it, look at it, you do it, you talk, you know?
Know when to leave it alone.
Know when to keep going.
I tended to not know to leave it alone,
and to keep going."

Because if you're like me, you're going to be distracted for the rest of the day.....
There were some really nice pictures scanned by a Japanese fan and sent out by the Pic-of-the-Day Club this week. Scruffy Beard and the most glorious brown eyes I've seen since...well, last time I looked into his eyes...
Inspiring.
Makes me want to re-write some Van Morrison lyrics.
~Sha la la la la la......
Happy Labor Day, everyone, the calendar for September is up.
And a lot of people are asking about the picture (It's from a Japanese magazine, Movie Star- sept '03) so here is a clean version, sized for wallpaper.
I just heard Rob Dougan's Chateau from the Reloaded soundtrack on a PBS promo for National Geographic. It's always weird to have things so familiar show up out of context. I still want to kill whoever greenlighted my beloved Spybreak for a local car dealership commercial.
And speaking of car commercials, has anyone else had their local Toyota dealer acting out Reloaded scenes to hawk the Matrix automobile?
Vegas does, and it SO SUCKS. Oh my god, it's just wrong.
Oh look, new wallpaper.
I'm craving a Powerade.
Like chocolate and peanut butter, this week's freewillastrology horoscope seems to go quite nicely with this new wallpaper.
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): I predict you will be in a hearty, even triumphant mood in the coming week, Virgo. There'll be few if any loose ends. Unfinished business will either complete itself or else reveal to you how to wrap it up simply and quickly. However, even if you have to pass through a moment or two of dark doubt, it's essential that you stay committed to your mood of hearty triumph. Please write down this poem from Tony Hoagland and carry it around in your wallet: "No matter how you feel, you have to act like you are very popular with yourself; very relaxed and purposeful, very unconfused and not like you are walking through the sunshine singing in chains."
Long overdue new wallpaper.
I had so much fun making this, it reminds me of The Dating Game.
bachelor-ette krix: "Bachelor Number One, Would you consider yourself a romantic?"bachelor no. 1:"Yeah. Not only in romance, but there's a certain part of me, especially coming out of a lot of like the kind of -- if you consider the tragedy of "Hamlet" or Romeo and Juliet, in the kind of melancholic aspect, and in romance, being with someone and saying, "Let's go. Let's get out of here." Impromptu acts or letters or phone calls or paying attention to what they like or love, and surprises, all those kinds of things to me are -- if you're in that situation, are quite fun not only to receive, but also to give, you know."
bachelor-ette krix, climbing over set divider: "Bachelors Two and Three, you might as well just go home now."
*POUNCE*
Jim Lange: "We'll be back after these messages! Cut to commercial!"
July's calendar is up.
Saints
I like all the different people
I like sticky everywhere
Look around, you bet I'll be there!
Hot metal in the sun
Pony in the air
Sooey and saints at the fair
Saints alive you're saying
Walk in ... squares
The hid are out, out for the year
It's a lot of face
A lot of crank air
Eroding around here
Summer's ready
Summer is ready when you are
I like all the different people
I like every kind of fair
In the crowd, you bet I'll be there!
Walkin' around
Going nowhere
Seeing Sooey and saints at the fair
Summer is ready when you are
Summer's ready
Summer is ready when you are
Summer's ready
Summer is ready when you are
It's a lot of face, crank air
Summer's ready
Summer is ready when you are
--The Breeders
from The Last Splash CD
There is a great collection of photos from the premiere over at Yahoo, and I couldn't choose just one or two to use in a wallpaper so I ended up with this.
There's even more to browse through so go check them out, and some of the captions are hilarious.
Cant decide?
Then pick this one.
This is an extremely collaborative effort.
Of course, the original cleaned-up scan is thanks to Elsinore.
Then there was some fine tuning under the scrutiny of ~L.
(She's the one that pinned it down. I knew something was "off" but figured it was just the unfamiliarity of the bangs)
You see, we think there may have been just too much eyebrow.
Maybe it was a trick of the lighting, maybe it was done in touch-up.
Maybe the stylist just got overzealous.
Hell, I'd use any excuse to touch his face for as long as possible....
Who knows? Whatever they did to him, she fixed it.
And that was the picture I used for this wallpaper.
Of course, the quote is part of the GQ article.
I'm only going to be making 1024x768 sizes from now on to save on space. I have faith that y'all can figure out how to re-size as needed.
(update: as per a request, the pop-up image is now a wallpaper)
Thank you to the Pic-of-the-Day Club for the original of this full length scan from an Aussie newspaper.
As always, keep your eye on thelastfreecity.com, matrixfans.net and of course, The Matrix official site for news and hype.
This is absolutely one of my all time favorite pictures of Keanu. I have had several versions of it as my personal wallpaper, including one in black and white with the brown eyes like in the banner pic (but his full face).
Thank you to Elsinore for the wonderful scan of this Sunny Bak photo.
"Gosh, krix. How do you decide what to use on your desktop?"
Well, my desktop wallpaper doesn't change as frequently as you might think. I test out all the wallpapers to see how they look before I upload them, but then I tend to revert back to one of my tried and true favorites. At the top of that list is the wallpaper from the Gorman Theme.
I like just a simple background with a no frills picture.
This is what my home desktop currently looks like.
Yes, I really do have a folder called "Stuff I really need to sort".
It contains about 500 pictures and two dozen subfolders.
I'll never get it sorted.
Yes, I have an icon of the boots. I'm insane.
Anyway, this picture of Keanu as Griffin is from The Daily Thud. I enlarged it even more and blurred it up a bit. Sex-ay.
Want it for your wallpaper? You can get it here. (1024x768 only)
Here's a wallpaper made with some of the images from the trailer...
I know it's a little early, but it's just too beautiful to keep to myself any longer.
The calendar for February is up.
As with so many of the calendars, thank you to Elsinore for the great picture used.
HAPPY NEO YEAR!
As per a request, here's a wallpaper..
I thought I'd go ahead and get January's calendar up.
Do you think I can get the phrase "Happy Neo Year" to catch on??
And here's a little retrospective of the calendars for 2002, remember all of these will be removed from the server at the first of the year....
2002 Calendars
January
February
March
April
May
June
July
August (my personal fave)
September
October
November
December
Lemur love to Elsinore of The Daily Thud for many of the great scans and images used.
It's been a pretty good year, I'm sorry to see it come to an end in some ways, but looking forward, too.
Now you can have fierce-in-leather santa and his special holiday treats on your desktop.
(edited to add)
Oooh, and here's how Keanu rates on Santa's naughty or nice-o-meter (via kat)
Keanu Reeves: "Nice, with a few naughty marks. Neatness needs improvement. Behavior has been good sometimes, not so good other times. Manners could still use some attention. Was very nice last Monday. "and me? krix: Overall, niceness outweighs naughtiness. Was good a lot last month! Politeness often good, but has room for improvement. Could help around house more instead of watching so much TV. Expected to move even higher up "nice" list.
That's actually a little scary, she thought as she dug through the pile of laundry on the foot of the bed looking for the remote ...
What does Santa say about you?
The Keanu calendar for December is up.
And don't forget, at the end of the year I will be removing the previous calendars and starting fresh. So if for some reason you want to save them, do it now.
I got The s!ms Art Studio from the official site today and tried my hand at making some decorative objects.
I did all of the Reloaded posters, you can download them on the downloads page.
I'm not thrilled by the choices of frames that Art Studio offers, but it will have to do for now. I'm going to do some Dogstar album covers and maybe some other movie posters next.
If anyone downloads them, please let me know how they work.
Because I called her at the crack of freaking dawn this morning, because I'm an idiot. And because....well, just because.
I'm working on November's calendar, using one of those exquisite Sunny Bak images from Elsinore.
It's going to be freaking gorgeous (if I do say so myself).
Also, here's this week's Virgo horoscope from FreeWillAstrology.com
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): It'll be a zigzag, flip-flop, which-end-is-up week, Virgo. Every plot twist will quickly split into at least two further plot twists; anything that looks like a trick ending will lead to what looks like another trick ending. Your natural talents for thinking on your feet and adapting on the fly
will be even better than usual, though, so you're poised to thrive in slippery conditions that may befuddle weaker minds. My advice? Act as if there's no script for the unfolding drama; treat every situation like an improv exercise in an acting class.
Thanks to penelopez of KeanuSite for the tip that there are 6 new teaser posters out for The Matrix Reloaded, and they can be found at Ain't It Cool news...
or they could, rather if AICN's server wasn't taking a beating on that particular page.
They can be found at TheMatrixOnline or KeanuWeb.com, too.
The teaser posters live up to the "tease" part of the name, as they don't show you the whole face of the subject. They're really spiffy though, and I'd bet that they will be popping up on eBay before too long. All six would be a nice collection for all you hardcore Matrix buffs.
Of course, I simply had to make new wallpaper with the Neo one...
As requested, here's that ASCII pic as a wallpaper.
This wallpaper comes with trivia.
The sequence on the left?
Actually his name in binary code.
Yep, I'm THAT geeky.
I know, but they're so fun to make!
I changed the size of the hi-res version of the calendar so it is like it used to be.
I hope that this fixes any problems some of you may have had with printing.
To go to the calendar page, click here.
Sorry about that.
I love the pictures that Elsinore has sent out the past couple days. Except, I'm not a big fan of the color orange on my desktop (sorry, LoriO!).
So since I needed a break from banging my head on the desk over my problems with the other computer (it didn't fix itself over the weekend, go figure...) I thought I'd have a little Keanu therapy in the form of experimenting with hues and wallpaper.
(click desired screen size below)
The Keanu calendar for October is up.
I made the hi-res printable one a little bigger than I used to so while it won't fit on your screen, it should be a little clearer to print.
Also, the sweatshirts are back in the keanuvision store.
I love mine, it's ever so snuggly.
I still need to build the gallery, and I'm actually going to look for some other software (because I'm not wild about the "pairs" that keep occurring with Phototile) but here's another in the collection of MetaKeanu images. Click the image above to view a larger pop-up version that you can see the detail better.
There was one of these up on eBay recently but the tiles weren't of Keanu, it was a collection of celebs and I think even religious icons. I know there's one out there of Dubya made out of tiny Jesuses. *SHUDDER*
So. Very. Wrong.
Anyway, photomosaics suck unless they're meta, dammit.
And if you want, save this (or others in the forthcoming gallery) and put it on disk and go to Kinko's or something and have the cute geekboy at the counter print it up at 11x17.
I haven't tried this yet, but here's a hi-res image for printing.
Um, this second one turned out pretty good, so I decided to add it to the post. The program still needs some fine tuning though.
Same deal, click the pic for a larger view that will still fit on your screen or here's a hi-res one
This is the first in a Warholish series I'm going to do. Actually second if you count the one in this post, but I didn't do a hi-res of that.
You can click the image to go to a slightly larger version, you can also click here for a non-shadowed small version to use as a tile background,
or if you're feeling crafty and ambitious you can click here to get a hi-res/hi-dpi version that would be suitable for printing or making a t-shirt transfer.
I had a email asking about transfers , so I thought I'd add this...
How do you make t-shirt transfers?
You can buy packs of special t-shirt transfer paper to use with inkjet printers just about anywhere that they sell computer supplies/accessories (even like Walmart).
Then you want to follow the directions (RTFM).
Be sure and use a graphics program to flip/mirror the image! It usually has to be backwards to print out the right way.
It may also need to be resized depending on your printer/software/whatever.
Use the "print preview" function if your graphics program doesn't have a "fit to page" type selection adjustment or test it on regular paper before you print the transfer.
So, follow the directions, print a test first.
YMMV
September's Keanu calendar is up.
Only 5 days to Keanu's birthday. If I could know it would actually get to him, I would send him a Forge de Laguiole / Chateau Laguiole sommelier series Corkscrew and something(a Bordeaux perhaps?) vintage 1964. Along with a pair of nice glasses (does Dale Chilhuly do drinking vessels? I don't think so, maybe some Riedel crystal, then) and possibly my phone number...
What would you get Keanu for his birthday?
Rob Brezsny's Free Will astrology can now be found at
WWW.BEAUTYANDTRUTH.COM
Here's what he has to say for Keanu's sign: Virgo, this week...
VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): Looks like the Season of a Million Emotions hasn't wiped you out completely. Though it may be hard to tell because of the puddles of tears by your bed and the piles of ashes from your burnt offerings, you've managed to maintain a modicum of poise. I mean you're not spitting into the wind and throwing stones at heaven while trying to dance naked on the roof with a hangover, right? That in itself is a sign you've escaped a trap you've always been a sucker for in the past. I bet that if you can just hold on to your sanity for another eight days or so, you'll finally graduate from the University of Senseless Pain, where you've been matriculating for way too long.
I've decided to get my focus back on imagery for a bit. I need to work more with Photoshop in order to learn. I'm pretty sure it does more than just drop-shadows. Plus, it's fun. Playing with filters and pixels and hues. I'm going to try and get past my own "superperfect" demons and share some experiments here.
The Warholian thing above was pretty easy, but it looks cool.
The picture below is derived from this picture.
Filters are your friend.
It's not high art, but it's fun.
And I'm all about the fun, baby.
Update: kat suggests that that first pic would make good wallpaper. So here's a copy of it without the drop-shadow that you can use. Just set your background to "tile".
Here's a simple wallpaper showing two of the many faces of Keanu.
I'd been racking my brain trying to decide on the pic to use for August's calendar. Last night Elsinore sent out those incredible Sunny Bak photos and I knew the search was over.
Is it hot in here?
If you thought that I could let the latest pictures from MOPI sent out by Elsinore just sit around you were oh, so very wrong...
*um...n!pple warning*
Finished the Jet Jam theme.
It was already a meg and a half, so I decided not to include a screensaver. I might get around to a Jet Jam saver at some point, though.
Also, if you check out the downloads page, I've made a couple Keanu icon sets for your amusement.
Icons are easy and fun to make, so I'll probably be making bunches more.
Here's a tutorial on how to change the icons on your WIN98.
Not sure about XP, but I'm sure it's not hard.
Won't your hubby, boytoy, roomate be thrilled when they come home and find the desktop covered in little Keanus?
Of course they will.
Norton Commando, that is.
This one is dedicated to Rhonda, even though she's actually a Harley Girl.
Thank you to Ann, who sent me a care package with 72 ounces of "Serenity Now!" (i.e., a 6-pack of Augustiner....) to help me get through these trying times.
This newest wallpaper is dedicated to her.
The file sizes on these are pretty big, but one of the positive things about this whole server upgrade nightmare is an increase in space, so I might as well use it.
And thanks goes to Elsinore at The Daily Thud for the lovely image from Little Buddha.
Getting a little experimental.
Hey, at least this one's got some color!
I bet you think with all the stuff going on, I forgot July's Calendar.
Wrong.
When faced with writer's block.....make wallpaper!~
Thanks to Elsinore Palace of The Daily Thud for the great pictures.
And to view a video clip of the Jet Jam concert, head over to reeves-dogstar.com and check out their multimedia section.
In lieu of actual content, here's a couple new wallpapers.
One of each made from some photos of a fresh-faced young Keanu that were recently on eBay, found in the archives of a now-defunct Hollywood magazine. Makes you wonder what other unearthed treasures are out there.
Mizz Leibowitz, Mistah Gorman? I'm lookin' at you....
Thanks goes to the Pic-of-the-Day club for sending these out recently.
*UPDATE June 10: I got a couple requests to brighten these up, so I did just that.
DC's Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure comic came into my life today. I believe that this particular one was promotional. It's the actual movie storyline in comic book form. I like the versions of the characters much more than in the Marvel comics. I have a few in the Marvel series, and they can just stay in plastic. Ugh. Fugly.
Anyway, since I still don't have a scanner and wanted to share a peek at this comic, I broke out the digital and tried to shoot something worth sharing.
I decided to do a little graphic editing, adjusting the color and contrast so it would be clearer and "pop" a bit more...and, well....once I start messing with stuff, sometimes things just become something more.
I kind of like what happened here.
And since I was in my comic stash anyway, I decided to go ahead and commit the sin of taking my copy of the recalled Matrix comic out of its protective sheath to see what all the fuss was about.
I still don't understand why it was recalled but here's an interesting pic from it.
There's a couple of really nice drawings in the back of the Matrix book.
Damn, I need to get a scanner.
Well, the temperature of my car interior today confirms that it is indeed summertime.
So here's a fun summer wallpaper...
800 x 600
and
1024 x 768
Thank you to Elsinore and The Daily Thud for the great Hamel photos.
I finished another new wallpaper already.
This picture of him from the cover of LANow magazine (thanks to the POTD club for it, by the way) is really gorgeous.
Those eyes.....purrrrrrrr.
Also, thank you to Ann, for reminding me about this week's horoscope from freewillastrology.com:
VIRGO (Aug 23-Sept 22) Week of May 23, 2002
In "She's On Fire," a song by the band Train, the singer croons, "It's not just a daydream if you decide to make it your life." I suggest you regard this as your mantra in the coming weeks, Virgo. The astrological omens suggest you have a mandate to bring a fierce new intensity to the glorious work of fantasy fulfillment. I dare you to prove just how much you believe in yourself.
I know it's a little early, but the Keanu calendar for June is up.
I finally got the trailer downloaded to I could do some captures.
Here's the result.
in wallpaper sizes
I also watched some hooptyvision....
more on that later.
I rarely get into these quiz thingies, but considering that one of the answers includes lemurs and the fact that Keanu has been known to dig The Pixies, I declare this one ON-TOPIC!
You're one cool cookie. You love movies, especially obscure ones, and you talk about them all the time. Even if people don't understand what you are talking about, they stick around anyway because you're just so much fun to be around. You don't always stand out in a crowd, but you can often be identified by your cluster of groupies and fans. You're usually the one throwing all the good parties, too. |
In an effort to improve the quality of the internet, I'm giving hoopty my old webcam, so we can look forward to a nekkid freakshow in the near future. Break out the jiffy-pop and practice your screen captures, it should be good.
Lastly, here's a new wallpaper:
in
800 x 600
or
1024 x 768
Thanks again to Elsinore of The Daily Thud for the image.
Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there.
A friend and I saw Keanu's mom outside House of Blues after a Dogstar concert once. My friend thanked her for Keanu, as in "Thank you for bringing such an exquisite creature into this world."
And I certainly agree.
There's a new theme added in the downloads section.
I'm particularly fond of the recycle bin "full" icon...hee!
Oh, and I spent part of yesterday and this morning trying to edit sounds from QF to use for system sounds, but you know what? I still think the original Dogstar sounds fit best so I have used them yet again.
Here's another new wallpaper
As always it comes in
800x600

That makes an even dozen new wallpapers so I will be making a new album to put on the main wallpaper page sometime next week.
I also am working on a desktop theme of those splendid Brad Fierce pictures, I just have to put together some new sounds. I like using sounds from Dogstar music rather than voice clips, the sound is always much cleaner since I can make the files from my CDs rather than use wavs collected online.
Hmmm, let's see...what else. Oh, I'm getting rid of the seperate links page on the site. Banner links are nice and all, but I think the links here on the side will be just fine. Just trying to streamline things a bit.
Like games?
There is an incredible mah-jongg game out there called Kyodai.
It's completely addicting. If you are sick of solitare and have totally mastered the secret to minesweeper, I suggest you check it out. As added incentive I have created a set of Keanu Tiles for Kyodai.
Once you have downloaded the game, just copy the KeanuTiles.jpg into your C:/program files/kyodai/tilesets folder and enjoy.
If you aren't familiar with the game of mah-jongg I recommend playing with the included tiles first so you get a sense of how the matching goes. Basically with the Keanu Tiles, name tiles go with each other, as do magazine covers. All others pair up exactly.
One more thing, if you decide to keep the game, DON'T forget to register it.
